Meshell Ndegeocello has been added to the cast of Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz, a multimedia concert based on Langston Hughes' poem of the same name.  The show will take place Saturday, March 23, at Harlem's storied Apollo Theater in New York City.

Meshell will perform as bassist, weaving her music with spoken word, music and film.  The concert's all-star cast includes actor Roger Guenveur Smith, soprano Jessye Norman and jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon.  The Manhattan School of Music Chamber Sinfonia led by George Manahan will also be featured.

Previously announced performers Questlove and Black Thought of The Roots will not appear, due to scheduling conflicts.  Tickets are on sale now.
